Meet Our Team

All of our therapists are Licensed Professional Counselors, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists, or Licensed Professional Counselor Candidates. We have been counseling adults and children to overcome life’s challenges for over 20 years with treatments that get results. We use a patient-centered approach that is About YOU, not just psychological theory.

Real solutions for real people.

These therapists are among the best you can find anywhere. We are very selective about who joins our team, and it shows! Our compassionate, non-judgmental approach also can utilize Your faith as a powerful force for change.

Meet Joel…

I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Oklahoma since 2003, and a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) since 2001. I obtained a bachelors degree in Theology from Criswell College in Dallas, Texas in 1990. I completed my Master’s Degree in counseling at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC in 1999. I performed my internship at East Carolina University, then supervision at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire for four years, providing therapy to college-aged clients for a wide range of presentations, including depression, anger, trauma, sexual identity, substance abuse, academic achievement, career decisions, and psychological concerns.

In 2002 I moved back to my hometown of McAlester, Oklahoma. I worked as Counselor-Spiritual Care Coordinator for Hospice, counseling terminal clients and their families. While there I provided in-home psychological and spiritual support, specializing in grief, coping skills, meaning/purpose evaluation, and life review using cognitive-behavioral interventions. In January 2005, I opened a private practice where I provide confidential counseling, assessment, and referral services to adults and children. In 2013 we expanded to a Mental Health Clinic, adding therapists specializing in couples, family, and group counseling.

Our office is private, quiet, handicap accessible, and provides a relaxed, comfortable environment. We strive daily to provide our patients with care, respect, honesty, integrity and empathy, helping them reach their goals, overcome life’s challenges, and live a happier, more fulfilled life.

Meet Donna…

Everyone could benefit from a setting and person who will make it all about you. Often, life, love, and all other “things” are complex and invite the need for further exploration. Why not visit with a therapist who never has “fit the mold.” I am genuine and full of real-life experience. If that sounds good, keep reading because you’ve hit the jackpot! I’m all the way human and many love it! You will be accepted and appreciated for the diversity and challenges that you bring to the table, you will also be empowered, while learning to experience freedom on a whole new level.

I grew up in Southeast Oklahoma and have recently moved back to the Tulsa area. I have been a “counselor” for as far back as I can remember and obtained the official title in 2013 after graduating from Oral Roberts University. I became a Licensed Professional Counselor in 2015 and became a Registered Play Therapist in 2017. I have a real passion for working with children and I am Registered Play Therapist eligible.

The main type of therapy I use with adults and teenagers is Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Person Centered, and Narrative Therapy. I work consistently to facilitate the tearing down of unhealthy ways of thinking and being in the world and focus on the reconstruction of healthier more effective ways of coping and being the best version of yourself. These things are implemented at your own pace, while we explore the whole picture.

I consider it a privilege to help others and find it even more thrilling to address spiritual issues and invite God into these settings. I have experience counseling a variety of populations including domestic violence, sexual abuse, relational trauma, other adverse life experiences, and group therapy. I have experience treating SMI, SED, substance abuse, crisis, gender identity, sexuality, as well as emerging sexuality. I am always seeking and learning new ways to provide more spiritually and therapeutically sound methods to help my clients.

Meet Kimberly…

I am at my heart a people-person. Everyone has a story and we all need to be heard. Before I started my career in counseling, I wanted to be a police officer…but God laughed and had other plans for me! I spent 17 years as a domestic and sexual assault advocate, and also provided group therapy to individuals who struggled with abusiveness in their relationships. Because I worked directly with first responders daily, I have seen people at their very lowest, their worst moments of grief, loss and pain.

My strengths and training are in working with people deeply affected by both childhood and adult complex trauma, PTSD, substance abuse and addiction, domestic and sexual violence, as well as anxiety and depression. Based on my background I also have the experience to work with first responders on complex trauma; they see trauma daily but may not have a healthy outlet to process it.

I take a person-centered approach to counseling, and utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and/or Written Exposure Therapy to help bring healing. I believe ultimately God wants you to be your BEST you, and I would be honored to be part of that journey with you.

Meet Marcia…

Thoreau said, “And when I come to die, I do not want to discover that I had not lived.” Life happens in the moments. Do you struggle to find contentment in your everyday? Has life presented you with challenges that have become so difficult or overwhelming that you forgot what it even is to actually live?

You’re not alone. You’re not broken, defective, or unlovable. Our brains start capturing those small inadequacies when we are very young. Your brain records disappointment, fear, and anxiety just as it records celebrations and joy. Our brains are smart little dudes; they’re so smart, they sometimes fool us. Would you believe me if I told you that your thoughts aren’t always facts and part of the underlying issue is the tendency to turn those “thoughts” into facts. We live in a world of comparison and excess. The need to fit in and keep up can be exhausting. The good news is that even though we live in this world, we don’t have to be of this world. Let me walk with you on your journey to hope and healing.

Therapy is a great place to begin sorting out the barriers you find in life. I’d love to partner with you to find joy in the everyday.

I truly believe we end up exactly where we’re supposed to be. My undergraduate and graduate degrees are courtesy of East Central University. My path to therapy began in the public school system. I began my career working as a high school English teacher. At 21, I sure thought I had it figured out. After experiencing some life-changing grief, I returned to graduate school for school counseling. That journey introduced me to a passion for psychology and an eventual career move to the school counseling center. Several years of legislation and a mountain of insane paperwork led me back, once again, to graduate school. This time, I was aiming to complete the clinical aspect of my degree.

Man has plans….God has plans. He laughed at my plan. I finished grad school and testing requirements just as COVID changed the world again. That course correction allowed me to focus on training and growing as a therapist. I’ve been fortunate in my career to receive some incredible training. I have a passion for resiliency, hope, and trauma recovery. I’m stoked to offer EMDR, TFCBT, and DBT, as well as foundational CBT to clients.

It feeds my soul to help another find his or her way to hope and healing. It would be my great honor to work with you and walk with you on your journey.

Have you gone through your life feeling insecure or with a nagging belief that you’re just not good enough? Have you experienced an upsetting event that you just can’t seem to get past? If anxiety, depression, stress or relationship problems make your daily life difficult to manage, you need solutions! My clients come seeking new ways to think about and respond to difficult emotions and ways to change unhelpful behaviors or habits. Together we identify coping skills and strategies to build their resilience while finding purpose and meaning in their everyday lives.
I am certified in clinical mental health counseling by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) and have been trained in many therapeutic interventions, but I primarily use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution Focused Therapy (SFT).
Cookie cutter solutions won’t work. Finding the best fit for you and building a strong therapeutic relationship together will be the cornerstone of your success. Even good change can feel scary, but you can emerge stronger and healthier on the other side of an investment in your mental health. So make that first step – you’re worth it.

Meet David Calvert…

We all get stuck sometimes and need help to find our way. We all find ourselves in patterns of thinking and behaving that are counterproductive to finding and fulfilling our God-given destiny. We all tend to adopt and embrace beliefs about ourselves that either hold us back or completely sidetrack us from discovering and living out the purpose God has in mind for us.

Throughout my life, many gifted counselors have helped me understand my own story, and figure out how to write the next chapter. Counselors have helped me to understand, make sense of, and reinterpret challenging and painful twists and turns in my life, including career detours, addiction (my own, and that of loved ones), and the loss of people close to me, including the death of a spouse.

I am a big believer in understanding the stories of those who come to me for counseling. I try to listen with empathy to each person’s story, and help them sort out changing what they can and accepting and embracing what cannot be changed.

I believe counseling is my calling and my ministry. In over 25 years of counseling, I have worked in a variety of settings, including inpatient mental health and crisis stabilization, private practice, running a community counseling clinic, serving as the lead therapist in an outpatient geriatric counseling program, operating treatment programs in the community and in a prison, school based counseling with children and adolescents, doing hospice work, working with individuals in the justice system, and working with veterans, including those with combat experience and trauma.

I would love the opportunity to hear your story, and help you listen for God’s voice as you determine what to keep and what to let go of, to embrace the next chapter in your journey. I especially enjoy working with men and women who are disillusioned with their spiritual journey or are in some way struggling with their faith. I am also a licensed and ordained minister.

I have been working in the mental health field since 1994, and have been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2000. I utilize a blend of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy. I also embrace theories and strategies of various family systems approaches in working with couples and families.
